vs Vermont Tech Saturday, January 11th
MEN'S TEAM FALL TO VERMONT TECH
Vermont Tech battled just hard enough against the visiting Bobcats for the win. The Bobcats now have a record of 11-9 with still plenty of season left.
The Bobcat's Men's Basketball Team has a tough schedule ahead with all but one game on the road to play regular season. Saturday's game vs Vermont Tech fell short by only a few posessions with two brief lead changes. Reggie Perez made a 3-pt jump shot after a close struggle the fist 7 minutes of the 1st half making the score 14-13. The lead lasted under a minute.
The Bobcats held to only 5 turnovers compared to Vermont Tech's 12 but fell short in a hard fought game. The first half Albany fell short in field goals only making 36% compared to Vermont's 50. Vermont Tech held the lead until 5 minutes into the 2nd half when Jamil stole the ball went for a layup, missed-but bailed himself out with the rebound and second chance to make the layup and turn the score to tie up the game- 48-48. Hood kept the momentum blocking a shot on the other end. Kobbie Perez stole posession of the ball and made another clutch 3-point jump shot assisted by Hood. The Bobcats held the lead and increased it when Reggie was fouled bringing the score to 53-48.
Bryant & Stratton took advantage of points off turnovers making 21 compared to Vermont Tech's 5. Still, with all other stats nose to nose, where the Bobcats fell short was in rebounds. Vermont Tech had more of a passing game when it came to making points in the paint.
With 11 minutes to go in the 2nd half, lead was taken back when Vermont Tech's Xavier Hicks made a layup assisted by Jeremiah Shaw. The rest of the game was a battle to the end, with Vermont leading the way with the Bobcats intensity persisted.
Final Score 82-88
Jamil Hood comes away with another double-double leading the way with 14 points, 14 rebounds, a block, 4 assists and 2 steals. The Perez Brothers once again did not disappoint coming away with a combined 44 points and 11 rebounds. Kobbie with 16 pts, 6 rebounds and Reggie with 29 points and 5 rebounds. Josh Monjuste contributed 10 points and 2 rebounds in his 37 minutes on the court and Randall Douvier-5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block during his 24 minutes.
Off the Bench: The bench totaled 37 minutes and conributed 13 minutes in points and 6 rebounds. Vladimir Jeantry with 5 points.4 rebounds, an assist and a steal and Sebastian Vidal-Casanova with 8 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists.
The Bryant & Stratton College-Albany Men's Basketball Team travel to Washington Adventist for their next away game on January 14th. Tip off at 6.
