Huskies Finish Regular Season

POTTERSVILLE, NY -- The Word of Life Huskies finished their 2023 Regular Season campaign with a weekend match at home against Bryant & Stratton (Buffalo), and at Bryant & Stratton (Albany) on Friday and Saturday respectively.

In the game Friday afternoon, the Huskies started off quickly with a goal from Cyleek Zaimoff in the 3^rd minute of the game. Zaimoff scored his 2^nd of the season and his first since the season opener in his first game back from injury. The Bobcats would respond to level the game 1-1 in the 23^rd minute, but Joseph Mathews from a pass by Alexi Marshall scored his 20^th goal of the season to make it 2-1 Huskies just 36 seconds later. The Bobcats would respond in the 35^th minute with a goal from Justin Modeste scoring his second of the game to tie it back up 2-2 before the half.

In the 2^nd half, Justin Modeste scored his hat-trick clinching goal to give the Bobcats a 3-2 lead in the 54^th minute of the game. But Santiago Miranda had other ideas as he fired in another shot for a goal in the 60^th minute for his 1^st goal of the 2023 season to even the game at 3-3. In a back-and-forth game, it would ultimately go the Bobcats way as Jamal Thomas broke the tie in the 80^th Minute with the game-winning goal as the Bobcats defeated the Huskies 4-3 Friday afternoon.

On Saturday afternoon, The Huskies fell 3-2 to the Bobcats. The Huskies scored the 2 goals were credited by Joseph Mathews which adds to his incredible season of now scoring 22 goals in the 2023 season.

The Huskies end the 2023 Regular Season with a 7-5-1 record and will face Berkeley College (NJ) Knights on Saturday, November 4th at 2:30 PM in the 2023 HVIAC Semi-Final at Word of Life's Huskies Soccer Complex.
