Bio

We are pleased to welcome Wade Hasty as e-Sports Head Coach for Bryant & Stratton College-Albany.  Wade has nearly 30 years of video gaming experience, five of which were training and teaching on combat simulation equipment that prepares Army Infantry units for deployment survivability and mission success.  He is an Army Stryker, Master Trainer, Bradley Master Gunner, and Ranger qualified.  Hasty brings lessons-learned from his time as an Army Senior Instructor into h is passion for coaching video games.  Given his background, Wade's competitive gaming includes a focus for games that he can leverage with his tactical knowledge from three real-world combat tours abroad.  These include first-person shooters (FPS), multi-player online battle arenas (MOBA), hero shooters, and battle royal shooters.  

Wade does branch out for other competitive games that involve more strategy with a hobby like Magic; The Gathering, he has a respectful appreciation for Hearthstone.  He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, and fell in love with both Game Theory and Graph Theory.  He keeps courses like this in mind when building power-strategy plays with students for games like Chess and Hearthstone. Knowing that games have a set number of moves, he builds large databases that reflect the possibilities for each player and their opponent.  Wade has a Master's Degree in Data Science, where he learned to construct machine-learning algorithms that foster best approaches to solve challenging positions.  

Wade ran for public office and was elected to serve as a Select Board Member. 

Bringing inclusive values to coaching, he is excited about the "unique opportunity Esports can offer as an all-inclusive team."  His first year here at Bryant & Stratton CCollege has resulted in the first successful Bobcat season with two competitive teams.  To keep the Bobcat competitive edge sharp, he is currently a season operator for the ECAC Fortnite League.  You might see him attending gaming conventions to network with gaming enthusiasts, or play-testing to report bugs for Indy game developers.  Lastly, he has experience beta-testing video on-demand (VOD) software to assist in Esports coaching techniques.
