Bio

Coach Janine Davis enters her second season as the Head Coach of the Women's Basketball Team at Bryant and Stratton. With a distinguished career as both player and coach, Coach Davis brings a wealth of experience and success to our program.

Coach Davis joined the Bobcats from Fisk University, where she served as Head Women's Basketball Coach from 2019 to 2022. Prior to her role at Fisk, she held the position of Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Farmingdale State College from 2017 to 2019 and Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach at Medgar Evers College Prep High School from 2016 to 2017. Coach Davis's impact at Fisk University was notable, as she led the team to its highest number of victories in eight years, and notably recruited Fisk University's inaugural McDonald's All-American Nominee, LeAsiah Payne, as well as the first player in school history to earn GCAC Freshman of the Year honors, Jaedyn Dunn. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Coach Davis successfully recruited nine new additions to the team during the 2020-2021 season.

In addition to her coaching achievements, Coach Davis boasts an impressive playing career. As a standout high school senior in 2008-2009, she was recognized as the 20th best point guard in the nation by ESPN Hoop Gurlz, leading her team to victory in St. Michael's first-ever Federation Tournament and setting the record for most assists in a single game in the tournament. Coach Davis continued her athletic journey at the collegiate level, earning a scholarship to George Washington University in 2009-2010, where she excelled both on and off the court. She later transferred to Siena College in 2011-2012 before joining Fisk University in 2012, where she concluded her playing career with remarkable statistics and accolades.

During her time at Fisk University, Coach Davis demonstrated exceptional skill and leadership, averaging 15.2 points, 7.8 assists, and 4.1 rebounds in her final season. She broke numerous records, including the Fisk University single-season assist record, and achieved top rankings in NCAA Division 1 and NAIA Division 1 for her performance. Coach Davis's contributions extended beyond athletics, as she was recognized for her sportsmanship and academic excellence, earning honors such as the A.D. Hancock Walter Nipper Sportsmanship Award and inclusion on the GCAC All-Academic Athletic Honor Roll.

Coach Davis's blend of coaching expertise and athletic prowess make her a valuable addition to our program, and we are thrilled to have her leading the Albany Bryant & Stratton College Women's Basketball Team into a new era of success.
