Bio

Hired to lead the BSC program in July of 2021, Coach Shewmaker is currently in his third season at the helm. In his first year, he was able to lead the Bobcats to a #4 National Ranking and a trip to the Final 4 of the National Tournament.  Their 18-7 record was the winningest season in program history and resulted in two of his players earning All-American Honorable Mention.  The Bobcats have a 30-19 (61%) record under Coach Shewmaker. 

This past Spring, Coach Shewmaker also served as the top assistant for the Albany Patroons, a storied professional basketball organization.  The 2023 season resulted in the Patroons finishing with a 26-6 record, a Conference Championship, and a playoff run to the Final 4 series of the Lillie Cup in the TBL.

Prior to Bryant & Stratton College, Coach Shewmaker served as the assistant coach at Norwich University (NCAA D3), from 2017-2021. At Norwich, Coach Shewmaker helped guide the Cadets back to the GNAC playoffs for the first time since 2011 and coached an All-GNAC player.  In his first recruiting class, Coach Shewmaker recruited a player who finished as the #6 all-time scorer, and #3 career FG% at Norwich University. 

Before Norwich, Coach Shewmaker was an assistant coach at Castleton State University (NCAA D3) from 2013-2017. At Castleton, Shewmaker coached two 1st Team All-NAC players, as well as two 2nd Team All-NAC players.  He recruited and coached the 2014 Gatorade Player of the Year, who went on to win Freshman of the Year in the NAC.  Coach Shewmaker was named #15th best "Top Small College Assistant" by CoachStat.net while at Castleton.  Coach Shewmaker also had a one-year stint prior to Castleton as a Graduate Assistant for Fairleigh Dickinson University (NCAA D1). Coach Shewmaker earned his BS in Sports Administration from Castleton University in 2011, and his MA in Sports Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2013.  He resides in the Capital District with his wife, Leah, and their two sons, Tristan and Landon.
